Charles L. Stephens, 94 years of Hillsboro and formerly of Daytona Beach, FL., passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, OH..
He was born on June 13, 1928 in Wayland, KY., the son of the late Millard and Sallie (Chadwell) Stephens. Beside his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Helen I. (Kinser) Stephens on October 17, 2016; three brothers, Lonnie, Lemuel and Ernest Stephens; three sisters, Gladys Kidd, Retta Wright and Ora Lewis.
Charles served his Country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Good News Gathering where he was very faithful and serving in the ministry. Charles and Helen were avid card players, while living in Daytona Beach and Hillsboro, he and Helen always looked forward to their regular Tuesday euchre nights with their special friends, Jessie and Ed Reno. He continued playing cards at GNG and with his VA family. He loved cars his whole life and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Charles is survived by his four loving daughters, Carol (Bruce) Seger of Jacksonville, FL, Donna (Lonnie) Kosch of Carroll, OH., Diane (Dennis) O'Cull of Washington C.H., OH., Lynne (Steve) Patton of Hillsboro, OH.; nine grandchildren, Travis (Christie) Seger, Jeremy (Eileen) Seger, Kerensa Seger, Lonnie (Karrie) Kosch, Shaun (Beth) Kosch, Patrick (Beth) O'Cull, Martin (Lauren) O'Cull, Autumn (Joey Young) Patton-Peeco, Kayleesue (Riley) Laber and 19 great grandchildren; one sister, Julia Landis of Vandalia, OH.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Military Rites will be conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard with Celebration of Life following for Charles at the Good News Gathering, 6250 U.S. 62, Hillsboro at 6:30 P.M. on Monday, June 5, 2023. Private family burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery.
