Joseph W. Davis, 98 years of New Vienna, passed away 6 days from his 99th birthday, on August 22, 2024.
He was born on August 28, 1925, in Highland County, OH., the son of the late Roy C. and Fronia (Johnson) Davis. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Fannie (Gambrell) Davis, on June 14, 2019; one brother, Ralph Davis.
Joe was a 1943 graduate of Fairfield High School. He spent is life centered around Agriculture, where he was a member of the FFA while in high school and a member of the Young Farmers. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the County Line Farm Bureau Advisory Council. Joe and his son Ken received the Cooperator of the year award from the Soil and Water Conservation. He enjoyed camping trips with family and friends, and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Christa Davis of Leesburg; grandson, Evan (Leah) Davis, granddaughter, Ellen (Matt) Binegar; the joy of his life, six great grandchildren, Brady Binegar, Brenna Binegar, Eva Davis, Colston Davis, Mabel Davis, Rudy Davis; nieces, nephew, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Thompson Funeral Home with Rich Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery.
