Nancy F. Pickard of Wilmington, Ohio, peacefully passed away on February 14, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born on February 8, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to loving parents, Robert "Jerry" and Dorothy (Duff) French, whose memory she cherished throughout her life. Besides her parents, she is also preceded by her brother, Robert French, Jr.
Nancy was a remarkable woman who embodied strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication. She will be remembered as a loving mother to her beloved son, Kenny (Robyn) Pickard of Wilmington, daughter, Bonnie (Jon) Schofield of Sykesville MD, four grandchildren: Grant Pickard, Chase Pickard, Penelope Schofield and Josette Schofield, sister, Mary Sweet of NM, and a devoted spouse to her cherished husband, Lawrence "Kent" Pickard. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories.
Nancy's indomitable spirit was evident in her lifelong commitment to both her community and her agricultural pursuits. As a member of the Highland Methodist Church, she found solace in her faith and actively contributed to its mission. She shared her knowledge and passion as a teacher at Wilmington College, where she inspired countless young minds to pursue their dreams. Nancy's dedication also extended to the 4-H program, where she served as an advisor, nurturing and empowering the next generation. She also worked for over 40 years at the National Weather Service. However, Nancy's true calling was that of a farmer. She spent her days tending to her land, cultivating crops, and caring for her beloved chickens, collecting their eggs with joy and pride.
With a sense of deep reflection, we remember the many chapters Nancy wrote throughout her life. She faced challenges with unwavering determination and always found strength in the embrace of her loved ones. Nancy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
