Ricky G. "Rick" Smith, 70 years of Hillsboro, passed away, Saturday, November 11, 2023.
He was born September 1, 1953 in Dayton. OH., the son of the late Julius and Wilna (Slusher) Smith.
On May 21, 1972, he was united in marriage to Sharon J. (Pitzer) Smith whom survives. Rick and Sharon were blessed with a son, Ricky J. (Christy) Smith of Castle Rock, CO.; three grandchildren, Paige (Matthew) Collom, Collin Smith, Conner Smith; brother, Dennis (Mary) Smith of Wilmington, OH.; sister, Cheryl (Dwaine) Dunaway of Carlisle, OH.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Sue Pitzer of Hillsboro, Tom and Karen Mitchell of Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Carol Willoughby of Hillsboro; seven nieces, Alicia Wilson, Candace Frump, Brittany Bach, Chelsea Dunaway, Liza Pitzer-Parsley, Linda McConnaughey, Michele Young; seven nephews, Josh Smith, Brian Pitzer, Tony Barber, Shawn Bradshaw, Tom Mitchell, Jr., Rob Mitchell, Jason Mitchell; great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Rick was a dedicated individual, both in his personal and professional life. He pursued his passion for computers, working for Unisys as a skilled computer professional.
Outside of work, Rick enjoyed various hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation. Whether it was fishing, camping, or playing the drums, Ricky found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time in nature, appreciating its beauty and serenity. Rick also cherished the company of his beloved dogs and found entertainment in watching TV.
He served his country with honor as a member of the United States Air Force. Enlisting on June 6, 1972, he proudly served until his discharge on August 6, 1974.
To celebrate his life and honor his memory, a Joyful Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, a 5:00 P.M at The Lakeview Loft, 10215 Jones Road, Hillsboro . Family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to come together to share stories, offer condolences, and remember the vibrant spirit that Rick embodied.
