Alta L. Tira, 91 years of the Marshall Community, died Friday, January 10, 2003 at the Laurels of Hillsboro.

She was born in Highland County, Ohio on February 10, 1911 the daughter of the late Edward and Blanche Hammond.

She was a member of the Elmville Church of Christ in Christian Union. She cooked for several years at the Marshall School, and then later retired from Hunter Meats.

Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Floyd Tira, who passed away on December 29, 1977, one granddaughter, Shelley Craft, one sister, Myrtle Main, and one infant brother.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Barbara Tira of Hillsboro, Don and Dianna Tira of Hillsboro, Bob and Donna Tira of Hillsboro, Larry and Doris Tira of Sardinia, one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Steve Parry of Hillsboro, six grandchildren, Brad Melanie Tira, Mandy Tira, Todd Penny Tira all of Hillsboro, Tammy Jessie Jamison of Texas, Heath Kelly Tira of Washington Court House, Rich Kelly Parry of Hillsboro, and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at the Elmville Church of Christ in Christian Union with Marlin Davis and Doug Frost officiating. Burial will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 till 6:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
