Alvena Dunkin

Alvena Dunkin, age 84 of Peebles, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at Hillside Nursing Home.
She was born in Blue Creek, Ohio on September 15, 1929 the daughter of the late Loren and Ethel Bennington Elschlager.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Dunkin who passed away on May 30, 1972.
Alvena attended Peebles Church of God and was a member of the Peebles Lioness Club, Adams County Senior Citizens, and Senior Companion Group.
She is survived by five daughters, Rhonda Delong, Wanda Lewis, Betty Dale Isaac, Elizabeth Thornberry all of Peebles, and Amy Jeff Burkenmeier of Georgetown; half-brother, John Hanson of West Union; half-sister, Lillian Baker of West Union; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. at White Oak Church with Tom Bennington officiating. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 till 4:00 P.M. at the church.
Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles is in charge of the arrangements.
