Anderson W. Andy Thackston, 94 years of Hillsboro, died Monday, June 13, 2005 at the Highland District Hospital.
He was born May 27, 1911 at Dover, Kentucky, the son of the late Walter and Emma Deatley Thackston.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Walker Thackston on October 10, 1985; two grandchildren, Donald Lee Thackston and Jill Marie Rendel; daughter-in-law, Barbara L. Thackston; two brothers, James and Emmitt Thackston; one sister, Leona T. Swezig.
He was a member of the Sugartree Ridge Church of Christ and the F.O.P. Andy owned and operated the Standard Oil Station in Sugartree Ridge for several years and Retired from RCA. Andy was active in law enforcement most of his life, serving as the constable of Sugartree Ridge Community and Concord Township, Chief of Police of Mowrystown and a Highland County Special Deputy for many years.
He is survived by three sons and daughter-in-law, Dewey Thackston of Toledo, Ohio, Ronald and Ann Thackston of Hillsboro, Ohio and Allen Thackston of Hillsboro, Ohio; two daughters and son-in-law, Barbara and Wally Rendel of Lexington, Kentucky and Evelyn Thackston of Hillsboro, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren: several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 17, 2005 at the Sugartree Ridge Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Sugartree Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-8 PM Thursday at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home and at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM. F.O.P. services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at 7:30 PM at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
