Barbara Jane Lamb

Lamb, Barbara T., 84, passed away Monday, November 22, 2004, in Hillsboro, Ohio. Mrs. Lamb was the beloved wife of Louis A. Lamb and the late C.E. Tucker, both of Hillsboro. She had been in declining health in recent years and passed away peacefully in her sleep early Monday morning at The Laurels.

A lifelong resident of Hillsboro, Barbara was the daughter of Hugh Marshall and Agnes Crone Leslie. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1938, she attended Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati. She married C.E. Tucker Sept. 5, 1945, in Cincinnati, returning to Hillsboro to raise her family. Mr. Tucker owned the Highland Lumber Company in Hillsboro, and in 1940, purchased the Enterprise Planing Mill. The two combined to become the Highland Enterprise Lumber Company which Mrs. Lamb ran after the death of her husband in 1969. The then Barbara Tucker remarried a former Hillsboro High School classmate, Mr. Louis Lamb on January 17, 1981. They moved abroad to live for three years in Northampton, England, and Peterhead, Scotland. Mrs. Lamb retired from Highland Enterprise Lumber Company in 1989.

Mrs. Lamb was a member of the Hillsboro Woman's Club, the Towne Club and became the first female Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in January of 1971.

Mrs. Lamb was preceded in death by her parents and sister Carol Leslie Groen. Mrs. Lamb leaves behind her husband Louis A. Lamb, two children: her daughter Mrs. Jane Tucker Radley and husband Jean-Pierre Radley, of New York City; and her son Mr. James C. Tucker and wife, Carol, of Wilmington, Ohio; four stepchildren and their spouses: Mr. Bruce E. Lamb Victoria of Hillsboro, Mrs. Susan C. Leassner Gerald of Loveland, Ohio, Mrs. Corcoran Crimmins William of Greecastle, Indiana, and Mr. Jonathan H. Lamb Melanie of Marietta, Georgia, and ten grandchildren: Dr. Laura McGuckin Scott, Miss Jennifer Leslie, Mr. Jonathan N. Lamb, Miss Kelly Leassner, Mr. Will Crimmins, Mr. Maxwell Leassner, Mr. Nathan Crimmins, Miss Stephanie Lamb, Miss Katherine Lamb and Mr. Luke Crimmins; four nieces and their children.

Visitation will be 5-8pm, Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The funeral service is 2pm Friday, at the First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro, with burial following at the Hillsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Hope, Maysville, Kentucky.
