Bessie F. Ward, 83 years of Peebles, died Sunday, July 10, 2005 at the Locust Ridge Nursing Home.
She was born in Adams County, Ohio on July 19, 1921 the daughter of the late Ora F. and Grace Copeland Shanks.
She was a member of the Union Hill Church.
Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ward, who passed away on July 2, 1993, four grandchildren and one brother.
She is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, James and Donna Ward of Mt. Orab, Ohio, Raymond and Judy Ward of Peebles, Ohio, Keith and Judy Ward of Piketon, Ohio, Tom and Connie Ward of Piketon, Ohio, Dennis and Linda Ward of Peebles, Ohio, Jerry and Joyce Ward of Winchester, Ohio, four daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Terry Dixon of Mt. Orab, Ohio, Linda Sue and Roger Purdue of Piketon, Ohio, Judy Kay and Walt VanHoy of Amelia, Ohio, Joyce and Danny McCain of Forest City, North Carolina, brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Ruby Shanks of Seaman, Ohio, twenty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the Union Hill Church with Phil Fulton and Carey Hilterbran officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Union Hill Church.
Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements.
