Betty J. Mercer, 78 years of Hillsboro, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at the Crestwood Nursing Center in Hillsboro.
She was born in Highland County, Ohio on July 3, 1926 the daughter of the late Mac and Ida Maude Lucas Spargur.
She was a member of the Fall Creek Friends Church, WCTU, and a fifty year member of the Leighton Chapter #521 O.E.S.
She was united in marriage on August 12, 1950 to Herman Mercer, who preceded her in death on January 11, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Kenneth Spargur, and sister, Maxine Wilharm.
She is survived by three nieces, Sharon Jordan Kothmann of Fredericksburg, Texas, Sheila McClain of Dallas, Texas, Sherlyn Fischer of Smyra, Tennessee, first cousins, Carleen Phillips of Hillsboro, Sara Kathryn Redkey of Hillsboro, special friend, Marjorie Cook of Hillsboro, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with H. Scott Latimer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gilboa Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 till 2:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
