Billy Gene Ferguson

Billy Gene Ferguson, 81 years of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.
Billy was born December 26, 1936 in New Market the son of the late Martin Luthar and Elsie (Whisler) Ferguson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; infant Luthar Eugene, Hugh, Don and Bob Ferguson and brother-in-law Don Sams.
Billy, along with his brother Hugh, ran Ferguson Builders since about 1959. They, together with their father, Luther, and brother built many homes, business, and ran rentals in Highland county. Billy was taught the trade of construction, at age of 14, by the side of this father.
Also, Billy served in the United States Air Force Reserves once stationed at Wilmington, Ohio for six years. October 1962, Billy was placed on notice to serve in Cuba. Though, that call to serve never came with the end of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Billy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Lou, and his daughter, Rinda Lynn of Hillsboro, brother Delmar (June) Ferguson of Hillsboro, brother's-in-law, Ron (Barbara) Sams, Danny Sams, sister's-in-law, Lois Ferguson, Sue Ferguson, Kinda Ellen Ferguson, Lavaun (Everett) Roush, Nancy Sams, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services, with Dr./Rev. T. Ronald Sams, officiating, will be held on Tuesday February 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Buford Cemetery in Clay Township with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Highland Country Honor Guard.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Hope, Dr. Melink's office and staff, June Ferguson, and friend Sylvia Hill for all of their help through Billy's extend cancer care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 West Walnut Street, Hillsboro, OH 45133 or to Hospice of Hope, 215 Hughes Blvd., Mt. Orab, OH 45154.
