Billy Dean Jones, 84 years of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday January 18, 2016 while traveling in Florida. He was born on September 10, 1931 in Morehead, KY.
He is survived by one daughter, Kym Jones Black, two brothers, Carol E. Jones and Donald L. (Gerry Lynn) Jones, one nephew, Theron (Gina) Jones, one niece, Seneca (Joe) Kanatzar and 5 great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude E. Jones and mother, Mary Lucille Dean Jones, one sister, Mary Jones and nephew, David Wadsworth.
Bill was a 1949 Graduate of Hillsboro High School and attended Wilmington College. He worked at NCR in Dayton, OH for two years and was a member of the Ohio National Guard for six years. He then moved to Tampa, FL in 1959 where he became a member of the Tampa Florida Fire Dept. During his tenure he rose in rank to lieutenant. He then moved west and worked as a Union Carpenter in Nevada, California and Hawaii. While living in California he became a member of SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and pursued his dream of acting. He worked as an extra in such movies as ConAir and Three-Thousand Miles to Graceland as well as minor roles in other movies.
After retirement Bill moved back to Ohio residing in Hoagland. His interests were collecting antique cars and metal detecting.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday January 23, 2016 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call at 12:00 PM until time of service on Saturday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
