Billy Rhoads, 65 years of Locust Grove Community, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 at Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center.
He was born in Peebles, Ohio on April 26, 1946 the son of the late Carlos and Ermalene Swayne Rhoads.
Billy attended Union Hill Church; he was an Army Veteran where he retired with 29 years of service in the Ohio Army National Guard and held the rank of 1st Sergeant and served in Operation Noble Eagle, he was a member of the Peebles American Legion #594, and Operating Engineer's Union.
He is survived by his wife whom he married on June 24, 1972, Mary Bayless Rhoads of Locust Grove Community, two sons; Billy Rhoads of Seaman and Bryan Rhoads of Winchester, one daughter and son-in-law; Cassandra & Brian Brown of Peebles, half brother and sister-in-law; Marlyn and Sue Davis of Peebles, two sisters and brothers-in-law; Peggy and Vondon Applegate of Peebles and Linda and Z.D. Lay of Columbus, and four grandchildren; Hannah, Brilee, Bria, and Chance.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Union Hill Church with Phil Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery with military graveside services given by the Ohio Army National Guard.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 till 9:00 P.M. at the Union Hill Church.
Memorials may be made to Union Hill Church or the Wesleyan Tabernacle.
Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles is in charge of the arrangements.
