Bobby R. Jones

Bobby R. Jones, 91 years of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024.

He was born in Carbon Glow, KY. on April 16, 1933, the son of the late Leroy and Verna (Lumpkins) Jones. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Eva M. (Mahanes) Jones on July 17, 2022; daughter, Peggy Ann Jones; brothers, Max, Elbert, Harold and David Jones: sisters, Rose Grady and Laverne Wallace.

Bobby served his Country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended the Hillsboro Southern Baptist Church and served the Southern Baptist Church as a Music Director, Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon for over 58 years. He retired from the Jorgensen Steel Company

He is survived by a son, Bobby (Chandra) Jones, II of Winchester; three daughters, Melissa "Missi" (Gary) Layman of Hillsboro, Christina (Alan) Layman of Sardinia, Monica (Jim) Price of Ewing, KY.; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother, Scott Jones of Alaska; three sisters, Billie Creech of FL., Anna Stratton of Seaman, Phyllis Fuchs of FL.; several nieces, nephew, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Burial will follow in the New Market Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services on Wednesday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
