Burton McFarland, age 97 of Peebles, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown.
He was born in Peebles, Ohio on July 21, 1917 the son of the late Ernest and Grace (Taylor) McFarland.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Burton attended Peebles United Methodist Church; he was also a US Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Flemingsburg Masonic Lodge #112, Peebles American Legion post #594, Peebles Lions Club and he was the owner and operator of McFarland Ford and Mercury dealership in Peebles for 43 years.
He is survived by his wife whom he married on July 4, 1965, Anna Mae (Hodge) McFarland of Peebles; two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Judy McFarland of West Union and Michael and Margetta McFarland of Lexington, Kentucky; one daughter, Rebecca Williams of Peebles; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Caryl McFarland of Manchester; one sister, Ann Rudd of Peebles; eight grandchildren, Brett, Bradlee, Doug, Stephanie, Ryan, Erin, Chase, & Chelsey; and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Peebles United Methodist Church with Steve Zinser and Steve Darby officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery with military rites given by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at the church with Masonic Services to start at 11:00 A.M.
