Carol Ann Dennison of Hillsboro and The Stewart Home School, Frankfort, KY., passed away on July 24, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lexington, KY. following a brief illness. She was born May 3, 1958 in Wilmington, OH. to the late John Blair and Elizabeth Betty Evans Tolle Denison. She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth David Mayers of Wilmington and Barbara Jeffery Streitenberger of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and her niece and nephew, Libby and Blair Streitenberger, both of South Carolina. She also leaves behind several much-loved aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as her loving friends, caregivers and wonderful staff members at the Stewart Home School.
She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1977, remaining a loyal Indians fan throughout her life. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls and the Hillsboro Chapter # 441 O.E.S. and loved her church family at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. She attended the Hills and Dales Sheltered Workshop until 1990, when she moved to the Stewart Home School.
During her years at Stewart, she was fortunate to travel to many places across the United States and participate in a variety of classes and activities. She also worked for a time in a sheltered workshop near the Stewart Home School. She especially enjoyed horseback riding, and in later years, driving the pony cart and visiting with the Siamese cat, Albert, in the horse barn at Stewart. She loved animals throughout her life, and had fond memories of time spent with family pets.
Carol also enjoyed visits back to Hillsboro, attending ball games with her dad, and spending time with family. Carol enjoyed making latchhook yarn projects and created many beautiful pieces which she shared with her family and friends. She also enjoyed sports, particularly football, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes, Bengals, and UK fan.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday July 28, 2014 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Dr. Derek Russell will officiate with burial to follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
