Carol Leslie Groen, 83 years of Syracuse, New York, formerly of Hillsboro, died Thursday, November 22, 2001 in Syracuse following a long illness.
She was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on January 26, 1918 the daughter of the late Marshall and Agnes Mae Crowne Leslie.
She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, received her Bachelor?s Degree from Wilmington College, and received her Masters Degree from Syracuse University. She worked as a school librarian in Baldwinsville, New York for fourteen years until her retirement in 1983. While living in Baldwinsville she was a member of the Baldwinsville Presbyterian Church, Travelers? Club, and was on the board of trustees of the Baldwinsville Public Library.
She was married to Henry Groen, a Syracuse University professor, who preceded her in death in 1972.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Leslie Louis Lamb of Hillsboro, four daughters, Barbara Robert Geis of New Richmond, Christine Abare of Sacramento, California, Elizabeth Groen of Cincinnati, Catherine Michael DiBiase of Syracuse, New York, seven grandchildren, Steven and Jeffrey Abare of California, Michael Geis of Brandon, Florida, Robert Geis of Cincinnati, Michael, Eric, and Stephanie DiBiase of Syracuse, New York, two great grandchildren, Sabrina and Dorian Abare of California, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Maurice Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 till 10:00 A.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
