Carrie Ionia-Bower Edwards

Carrie Ionia Bower Edwards, 100 years of Sabina and formerly of Hillsboro, passed away on Saturday September 7, 2013 at the Court House Manor in Washington Court House.

She was born in Ross County on July 16, 1913 the daughter of the late Edward and Ada Vetter Bower. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Edward, whom was married on May 25, 1940; brothers and sisters-in-laws Merle and Daisie Newman Bower, Wayne and Doris Brandenburg Bower and Clyde and Betty Sherman Bower, sisters and brothers-in-law Helen and Woody Rupp and Mary and Paul Gralton; nieces Kimberly Rupp, Nicole Bower and Merle Ellen Bower and nephews Chris and Dennis Bower.

Carrie retired from the G.C. Murphy Company, Hillsboro in 1976 after 25 years of service starting as a sales clerk and retiring as the assistant manager. She spent her retirement years making quilts, travelling and square dancing. She was a member of the Highland County Senior Citizens, Auburn United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, volunteered several years at the Highland District Hospital and was a 1933 graduate of Highland School.

She is survived by two sisters, Jayne Garber of Sabina and Ethel Edgar Boone of Raleigh, N.C., a special niece and husband Dianna and Pat Hurles and special great nephew and wife William Jed and Emily Bower of Washington Court House; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday September 14, 2013 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Auburn Cemetery.

Friends may call at 12:00 P.M. Noon until time of service on Saturday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
