Caryl M. Newell, 84 years of Hillsboro, died Monday, March 24, 2003 at the Liberty Retirement Community in Dayton.
She was born in Deckerville, Michigan on May 31, 1918 the daughter of the late Charles and Vera Clancy Merriman.
She was a graduate of Potsdam College of the University of New York. She taught elementary grades from 1939 to 1951 in the New York Schools, and taught first grade from 1961 to 1973 in the Hillsboro City Schools. She was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Hillsboro Women?s Club, Highland County Retired Teachers, and the Highland County Senior Citizens.
Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Heber Newell, who passed away on June 19, 1996.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Betty Merriman of Key Colony Beach, Florida.
At Mrs. Newell?s request her body is being donated to medical science.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
