Cecil Stern

September 19, 1914 — January 7, 2007

Cecil "Beech" Stern, 92 years of Seaman, died Sunday, January 7, 2007 at his residence.

He was born in Adams County, Ohio on September 19, 1914 the son of the late John William and Minnie Pearl Storer Stern.

He was a member of the Seaman Presbyterian Church, Adams County Flying Club, Charter Member of the Seaman Lions Club, Scott Township Committeeman, Scout Master of Seaman Explorer Post, and graduate of Seaman High School in 1932. He was a very fine guitarist and co-leader of his own band, along with his brother, Joe.

Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Stern, two sisters, Lucille Best, Mildred Gaver, and one granddaughter, Kelly Stern.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Eva Swisshelm Stern, son, Tom Stern of Unity, Ohio, daughter, Patricia Shaw of Cincinnati, brothers, Joe Stern of Seaman, Ralph Stern of Seaman, sister, Beulah Boyd of Dayton, grandchildren, Todd Shaw, Eric Shaw, Chad Shaw, and Coby Stern, one great granddaughter, Laura Ann Elizabeth Ison, step granddaughters, Sherry Ortega, Shelley Taliaferro, and step grandchildren, Marco, Madison, Gabe, and Faith.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 12:00 P.M. at the Lewis-Sullivan Funeral Home in Seaman with Rev. Nat Manzo officiating. Burial will follow in the Tranquility Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 till 12:00 P.M. at the Lewis-Sullivan Funeral Home.
