Charlene Ison

Juanita "Charlene" Ison, 89 years of the Byington Community passed away Wed, May 18, 2022.

Charlene was born February 25, 1933 in Adams County, OH., the daughter of the late Olie and Josephine (Hackworth) Hoop. Beside her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Ison on November 5, 2002; two brothers, Paul and Glenn Hoop; six sisters, Lorene Hoop, Mary Jane Hoop, Ann Marie Johnson, Maxine Brown, Donna Hilderbran and Doris Spivak.

Charlene was a member of the Byington Church of Christ in Christian Union. Charlene was a graduate of the Portsmouth High School and Paramount Beauty College. After graduating from beauty college, Charlene operate the Kurl and Swirl Beauty Shop in her home in Byington for 30 years.

Charlene and Don was blessed by a loving and dedicated daughter, Melissa (Donny) Tolle of Byington; two grandchildren, Donavon Tolle, Jr. and Tiffany Tolle; one sister, Norma Liles of FL.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring.

Rev. Jeff May will officiate with burial following in the Washburn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
