Charles R. Hughes, 87 years of Xenia, died Saturday, August 24, 2002 at Greenwood Manor in Xenia.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 18, 1915 the son of the late George and Sarah Fortune Hughes.
He had retired from Symplex Wire and Cable as a pipe fitter, member of the St. John?s Church in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Masonic Lodge, Maine Royal Arch, St. Armande Commandry, and Maine Council.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia Rogers Hughes who he married on December 11, 1939, one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Perry and Sherman Thatcher of Xenia, one grandchild, Vicki Collier, two great grandchildren, Rachel Collier and Mackenzie Collier, two step grandchildren, and one sister, Virginia Weaver of York, Maine.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at 12:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with David Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 till 12:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
