Charles Raymond Phillips, 97, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2020, at his residence.
Raymond, was born in 1922, in Seaman, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Martha Phillips; his loving parents, George and Mae Phillips; his brothers, Chester Phillips, Arthur Phillips, and Dale Phillips; his sisters Juel Fling and Joyce Ward; three sister-in-laws, Doris Phillips, Tillie Phillips, and Evelyn Phillips; two brother-in-laws, Bill Fling and Jim Ward.
Raymond was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true friend to all. Known to many for his great hugs. He expected much from himself and gave much to others.
He was not only our father, but our best friend, confidant, problem-solver and a true inspiration of life and love. With his support and encouragement, we were able to reach our goals and dreams. He will be truly missed by all.
Raymond was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church, the Prospect Cemetery board, and various other organizations. His faith in our Heavenly Father was strong and unwavering.
He is survived by one son, James (Dinah) Phillips of Hillsboro; two daughters, Lonnette (Don) Hamilton and Yolanda Williamson (Jim) of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Andrew) Cimis, Mark (Jamey) Phillips, Melanie Phillips, Natalie (Will) Hamilton, Allison (Jason) Bentley, Chad (Andrea) Williamson, Tara (Geoff) Williamson, Clint (Cassie) Williamson; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
A private viewing will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Pastor John Waugh will officiate.
