Charles Louis Tieman, 86, of Hillsboro, OH died peacefully on Thursday 2 Feb, 2012 at Highland District Hospital with his wife and son by his side.
He was born on 5 Jan, 1926 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Thaddeus William and Mary Eugenia Campbell Tieman.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Anne Bradstreet Wilson Tieman of Hillsboro, son Michael A. Patricia Tieman, also of Hillsboro, and grand-daughter Stephanie R. Tieman of Plymouth, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter, Kristin Karen Tieman.
He was a graduate of Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, OH and received his Masters Degree in education from Xavier University. He was a Drafting Instructor and Licensed Professional Counselor at Live Oaks Vocational School in Milford, OH for many years as well as a Teacher Probation Officer for Hamilton County Juvenile Court. He had a love for working with young people, and also had served as a Cub Scout Master and 4H Advisor. A Mechanical Design Engineer for many years prior to teaching, he continued to be an avid designer during his retirement years, building and running modified-class quarter scale pulling tractors along with his son. An aviation enthusiast, he particularly enjoyed his time at the controls of Piper Cub aircraft, always saying, "Low and slow is the way to go."
He was a WW II combat veteran who served in Europe with the US Army 63rd "Blood and Fire" Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star and, along with his Regiment, the 253rd, a Presidential Unit Citation. He retired from the US Army Reserve as a Captain.
Grave side services will be held on Monday 6 Feb, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Hillsboro Cemetery with the Reverend Judi A. Wiley officiating.
