Charles Chuck Tumbleson, 88 years of Winchester, died Saturday, December 18, 2004 at his residence.
He was born in Bentonville, Ohio on February 15, 1916 the son of the late James and Ola Pettit Tumbleson.
He was a World War II veteran, spending three and a half years in the army. He fought in the Rhineland, Ardenne Forest, and Central Europe. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign with three bronze stars, and WWII Victory Medal.
He was a member of the Cherry Fork Presbyterian Church, the Winchester American Legion Cameron-Ellis Post #242, and the Winchester Village Council. He had been employed by the Farm Bureau for 40 years, had served as a member of the Seaman School Board and Mayor of Winchester. After retirement from the Farm Bureau, he had worked at Lake Waynoka and as a security guard at the Adams County Hospital.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Harlan, and two sisters, Grace and Peggy.
He is survived by his wife, June Shell Tumbleson, who he married on December 22, 1939, daughter and son-in-law, Lindsay and David Willman of Peebles, grandson, Ty Delyanne Cassady of Miami Beach, Florida, and two step grandchildren and their families, Aimee Kevin Long and Taylor and Payton, and Chris Tracy Willman and Jack.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bradford-Sullivan Funeral Home in Winchester with Rev. Barbara Jean Havens officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Fork Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Monday from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Bradford-Sullivan Funeral Home.
