Charles Everett "Charlie" Copeland, born April 30, 1935 in Pike County, Ohio, died September 28, 2022 in Highland County at the age of 87 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora David Copeland and Reetha Mildred Ashbaugh; one brother, John Richard Copeland; two sisters, Opal Skidmore and Wilma Pulver.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Mary Jo (Reno) Copeland; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Anthony Throckmorton of Hillsboro; step sons, Chad Shelton of Hillsboro and Kelly Shelton of Riverview, FL.; grandchildren, Anne and James Throckmorton of Hillsboro; brother, Frank Copeland of Midland, OH.; sister, Mary Hawk of Blanchester, OH.; sister-in-law, Margaret Copeland of Cecilia, KY and a host of nieces, nephews, cherished friends, neighbors and old horse trading buddies.
Charlie was a life long trader and breeder of horses, selling horses to those far and wide. He prided himself on breeding good working horses with foundation bloodlines and a splash of color. He loved to get kids started in 4-H and to foster a love of horses in all those he met. Many a tall tale and a horse were swapped under his old shade tree. He was well loved and will be sorely missed as he rode off into the sunset one last time.
