Clara May Gross Wait, 88 years of Hillsboro, Ohio, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at her residence.
She was born March 22, 1919 to the late Chauncey and Anna Parker Gross. Founder of the Gross-Fiebel Company.
She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1937. Clara attended Denison University and transferred to Ohio State University receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1941. She went onto Case Western Reserve University and received a master's degree in nursing in 1944. Her nursing career spanned over forty years and many states. She served in the Army Nurse Corp from 1945 to 1946 as a 2nd lieutenant, World War II.
Clara was an avid bridge player, loved to read, and traveled all over the world. She was a wife, a wonderful mother, grandmother and aunt. All that knew her loved her infectious wit, generosity and special love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, by infant brother, first husband Jack E. Moran, eldest son Jeffery R. Wait, and sisters Sarah Gross Roush and Miriam Gross Hiestand-Roush. She is survived by son Todd Parker Wait of Green Bay, Wisconsin, daughter Wendy Ann Chrysler of Lewis Center, Ohio. Two grandsons Harley B. Chrysler and Jarrod S. Williams Trina, and two great grand daughters Meg Williams and Sabrina Williams. Ex-husband Paul F. Wait. Special nieces Elaine Glenn and Sally Rogers, and many more relatives and friends.
There will be no funeral services per her request. Her remains will be buried beside her son at Hillsboro Cemetery privately.
Funeral services are under the guidance of the Thompson Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Ohio.
The family requests that donations be made to the Highland County Historical Society; Highland House Museum, 151 E. Main Street, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133, in her honor.
