Clifford Smith

Clifford Smith, 66 years of Hillsboro, died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the Ohio Valley Manor in Ripley.

He was born in the house where he lived until his need for extended medical care on June 5, 1936 the son of the late Lawrence T. and Bessie Wilson Smith.

At the age of seven, he started taking piano lessons from Miss Helen Pope, a local piano teacher who had a great influence on his life. At the age of fourteen he started taking organ lessons on the Methodist Church organ from Miss Pope. He also took voice lessons from Mrs. Jenniebelle Richards. He was a life long member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, where he was organist for forty years. He taught piano lessons in his home for several years to many students. Clifford was a graduate of Hillsboro High School in 1954 and attended Capital University in Columbus. He was a baker at Whites Bakery for twelve years. He was always cheerful and most often had a recent joke to tell to all that would listen. He was truly one of God?s servants.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2003 at 7:30 P.M. at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church with Rev. James T. Caldwell officiating. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hillsboro Cemetery. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday from 5:30 till 7:30 P.M. at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church.

Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
