Dale Smittle

December 9, 1918 — August 19, 2010

Dale Smittle, 91 years of Peebles, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 at his residence.

He was born in Louden, Ohio on December 9, 1918 the son of the late Harley and Mary Baker Smittle.

Dale attended the Countryside Church of Christ, he was an Army veteran of World War II, and he was a member of the Seaman American Legion Post #633.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Cornelius Smittle, who passed away on November 2, 2005.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Mary Ruth and Larry Bennington of Peebles and Jo and Wayne Hanson of Peebles, two sisters; Helen Bradie of Hartford, Connecticut and Irene Sprinkle of Hillsboro, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, and special friend; George McCoy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Countryside Church of Christ with Hannum Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Tranquility Cemetery with a military graveside service given by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Friends may call on Saturday from 12:00 till 2:00 P.M. at the Countryside Church of Christ. The Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Countryside Church of Christ or the Peebles Athletic Boosters.
