David Arthur Phillips, 52 years of Kansas City, Missouri, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at his residence.
He was born in Greenfield, Ohio on June 15, 1953 the son of Arthur and Wauleta Ferrell Phillips.
David attended school in Greenfield, Ohio and graduated from Corning High School in Corning, Iowa. He joined the Methodist Church at an early age. He was a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Naval Science, and also had a degree in Telecommunications from DeVry University. David was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving for twelve years. David worked for Sprint for the last fourteen years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Phillips and father-in-law, Charles Jones.
He was united in marriage on August 30, 1974 to Liesa Jones Phillips, who survives. He is also survived by his mother, Wauleta "Tillie" Phillips of Hillsboro, daughter, Holly Phillips of Kansas City, Missouri, son, Derek Phillips at home, brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Sandra Ferrell of Hillsboro, sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and William Penquite of Columbus, Cheryl and James Burchinal of Columbus, Cinda Carter of Batavia, and Carla and Rodney Doughorty of Des Moines, Iowa, mother-in-law, Leota Jones of Corning, Iowa, and brother-in-law, Klint Jones of Corning, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Saturday from 12:00 till 2:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
