David W. Tate, Jr., 89 years of Piketon, died Friday, July 10, 2015.
He was born December 18, 1925 at Little Davy, W.VA., the son of the late Wallace and Viney (Phillips) Tate. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife Helen Tate; two sons, David W. Tate, III and Ronnie Tate; seven brothers, Henry, Ben, Isaac, Woodrow, Dale, James and Marshall Tate; three sister, Evelyn Moody, Ola Goodman and Nola Bell Gullett.
David was a U.S. Marine Veteran who served during WW II and retired in 1994 from the Lucasville Correction Center.
He is survived by his wife Celesta "Katie" (Douglas) Tate; one son, Terry Tate of Springfield, OH.; one daughter, Pamela J. (Jr.) Montgomery of Lucasville, OH.; two step sons, Tom (Clarie Williams) Morgan of Hillsboro and Tim Morgan of Piketon; three step daughters, Grace Williams of Mowrystown, Barbara (Dean) Mason of Rarden and Linda Rodriguez of Indiana; 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Richard Gorman will officiate. Inurnment of cremains will follow at the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
