Debbie Truman, a beloved member of the Hillsboro community, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2023, at the age of 62. Born on May 14, 1961, in Cincinnati, OH., she was the daughter of the late Earl Mahaffey and mothers, Mary (Hopkins) Mahaffey and Emily (Clouser) Truman, both of Hillsboro. Besides her father, she is preceded by her maternal grandparents, Pete and Ruby Clouser, paternal grandparents, Coleman and Mary Mahaffey and a special aunt, Jeannie Newkirk.

Debbie was a remarkable individual who valued independence and had a profound love for her community. She was a mother and grandmother to all and caregiver for her grandson. A 1979 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Debbie loved the Hillsboro Indians and was known affectionately as "Grandma D". During the Hillsboro Indian football games, she could be found on the sidelines, cheering on her beloved team with unparalleled enthusiasm. Her spirited presence and unwavering support brought joy to the players and spectators alike. Debbie was inducted into the Hillsboro Youth Football Hall of Fame. Debbie loved fantasy football as well and enjoyed shooting pool, euchre, corn hole and spending time at the beach.

Throughout her life, Debbie dedicated her time and talent to various endeavors. She spent 16 years working at Buckeye Molding, where her dedication and meticulous attention to detail earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Later, she embarked on a new chapter as the "Hallmark Lady" at Walmart, bringing smiles and warmth to countless customers through her heartfelt greetings and personal touch.

Debbie's commitment to serving her community extended beyond her professional life. She was an active member of the Highland County Senior Center, where she fostered meaningful connections and brightened the lives of her fellow members. Her selflessness and genuine care for others were evident in her active involvement within the community.

While battling health challenges, Debbie displayed tremendous strength and resilience. For 26 years, she faced her dialysis treatments with a determined spirit, defying the odds and inspiring those around her. Her courage was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her unfaltering resolve left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.

Debbie will be deeply missed by her mothers, Mary Mahaffey, and Emilie Truman; daughter, Amber Zguro and son, Jared (Constance) Truman; sisters, LouAnn (Paul) Flint and Laurie (Jeff) Taylor; brothers, Nick (Jackie) Mahaffey and Jay (Cathi) Evans: seven grandchildren, Biff, Brylie, Dorothy, Layla, Brayden, Lilly and Logan; former husband and friend, Tom Truman; and a host of cherished family and friends.

Funeral services to honor and remember Debbie's life will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Visitation will be be held from 11:00 A.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at the Prospect Cemetery.
