Denver K. Taylor, 93 years of Sardinia, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023.
He was born June 20, 1930 in Monticello, KY., the son of the late Henry and Anna (McFarland) Taylor. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vela M. (Ball) Taylor on April 26, 1989; daughter, Janet A. Taylor; son, James Taylor and nine brothers and sisters.
At the tender age of 14, he began his journey in the coal mines of Kentucky, forging an enduring spirit of resilience and determination. One of Denver's notable endeavors was his involvement in the construction of Lake Cumberland. Denver pursued a career as an electrician, dedicating his skills and knowledge to G.E. where he worked for 26 years and retired from Siemens after 20 years. Throughout his life, Denver loved gardening and working on his farm instilling in him a strong work ethic and an appreciation of the land. He was a 57-year member of the Norwood Masonic Lodge.
Denver is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Marty Behm of Belfast; two sons and daughter-in-law, Larry and Becky Taylor of Hillsboro, Kenneth Taylor of Sardinia; nine grandchildren, Jim and Candy Cole, Jason and Amy Cole, Eric and Shelly Taylor, Amy and Mark Faber, Adam "A.J." and Ashley Behm, Zach Behm, Jessica and Kyle Kisling, Kyle and Jennifer Taylor, Justin Taylor; thirteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; special friend, Betty Vance and family; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
To honor the life and memory of Denver, a public viewing will take place at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. This will be followed by funeral service at Thompson Funeral Home at 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
