It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dolores Neva (Lewis) Mootz, Saturday, June 22, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.
She was a wonderful mother, always there to help out in anyway she could, giving her love, support and wisdom along the way.
Dolores was born November 1, 1929, to William Marion Lewis and Sarah Ada Viola (Dimond) Lewis in Greene County, OH. In her senior year, her family moved to a farm in Spring Valley, where she was the artist for her high school newspaper. After graduating high school she went to work at Hobart as a secretary. On March 7, 1948, she married Duane Millard Mootz, then beginning the real work of her life, raising 12 children on she and Duane's farm near Danville. In her later years, after most of her children were raised, she went to work as a cook at several area restaurants.
Surviving are eight sons, Greg (Jodi) Mootz, Glen (Sue) Mootz, Tim (Ramona) Mootz, Tom (Sandy) Mootz, Jim (Angel) Mootz, Nathan (Melanie) Mootz, Jon Mootz and Charlie (Denise) Mootz; three daughters, Naomi (Gerald) Barnett, Sarah (Rodney) Rose, Rebecca (Walt) Davis; one brother-in-law, Don Roosa; two sisters-in-law, Willa Jean Mootz and Sheila Mootz; many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.
Dolores was predeceased by her parents, husband of 54 years, Duane Millard Mootz, one son, Bradley Eugene Mootz, one daughter-in-law, Ruby Mootz, one granddaughter, Cassaundra Mootz, one grandson, Josh Mootz, one great grandson, Porter Doss; her five siblings and four of their spouses and nine of Duane's siblings and seven of their spouses.
Dolores was a longtime faithful member of the United Church of God, an International Association.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Hamer Township Cemetery with Gary Evans officiating. There will be no visitation.
