Donald W. Bloom, 89 years of Hillsboro, died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Clermont Mercy Care Center in Milford..
He was born December 21, 1921 at Sugartree Ridge, the son of the late Ernest and Bessie Tice Bloom. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Elwood, Denver, Virgil, Gleason Bloom, one sister, Mildred Davis.
He was a member of the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church, a lifelong farmer, New Market Township Trustee for 22 years, served on the Highland District Hospital Board and Community Action. He retired after 20 years at Irvin Auger Bit in Wilmington.
He is survived his wife Boneeta "Bonnie" Goery Bloom, two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Bob Hottle of Hillsboro, Doris and Montey Scott of Hillsboro, two step daughters and step son-in-law, Kimberle and Dennis Morris of Savannah, GA, Kelly Martin of Hillsboro, four step sons and step daughter-in-law, Ronald and Karen Goery of Spring Creek, NV, John D. Ward of Savannah, GA, Donald E. and Ruth Ward of Burkburnett, TX, Allen Ward of Wilmington, OH, two sisters, Geraldine Breckel of Wilmington, Mary Alice Hughes of Hillsboro, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Lamb officiating. Burial will be follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 noon till time of service at 2:00 P.M. at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church.
The Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
