Doris Jean Pierce, 85 years of Hillsboro, died Wednesday April 17, 2013 at Heartland of Hillsboro.
She was born in Boston, Ohio on May 8, 1927, the daughter of the late John and Gaynelle Vance Grove. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Pierce on September 10, 1980 and her grandson, Nathaniel Pierce.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Bonita Pierce of Peebles, her sister Maxine Boggess of London, Ohio, two brother-in-laws, Joe Vance of Pataskla and James Pierce of Washington Court House, two grandchildren, Todd Alisha Pierce of Peebles and Marci Roger Vogler of Winchester, and five great grandchildren; Madison, Ethan, and Dakota Pierce and Carter and Codie Vogler.
After graduating from Hillsboro High School, Doris Jean was employed by Highland County Recorder Margaret Finnegan as a Clerk for two years and then went to work in the Highland County Probate Juvenile Division of the Highland County Courts under Judge Roades and Judge Davis for a total of 47 years of service to Highland County. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M, Monday April 22, 2013 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with John Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday April 21, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home.
