Dorothy Elizabeth Meranda Purdin

Dorothy Elizabeth Meranda Purdin, 87 years of Hillsboro, died Sunday, January 27, 2002 at the Crestwood Nursing Center in Hillsboro.
She was born in Decatur, Ohio on August 3, 1914 the daughter of the late Samuel I. and Lelia Crabb Meranda, and was raised on a farm in Brown County, Ohio.
She graduated from Decatur High School in Decatur, Ohio. She was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church and the Russellville Chapter #461 O.E.S. She worked at Berry?s Implement of Russellville, Russellville Bank, and the Ripley and Lynchburg Gas.
She was united in marriage on November 5, 1951 to Edwin Allen Purdin of Russellville, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1989. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Samuel Leo, and John Meranda, and one sister, Emma Florence Meranda.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church with Rev. James T. Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Russellville Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Eastern Star service to be held at 8:00 P.M.
Memorials may be made to the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, 133 E. Walnut Street, Hillsboro, OH 45133.
