Dorothy Young

In loving memory of Dorothy Young, a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and cherished nurse whose life painted a tapestry of kindness and grace, with each stitch embodying her unwavering love for her family. Born on September 25, 1936, in West Union, OH, Dorothy's journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on October 23, 2024.

Dorothy is preceded by her parents, Lester and Ruth (Davidson) Purdin, husband, Jay Young and two sisters, Barbara Rothwell and Mary Purdin and half-sister, Joann White.

Dorothy's presence radiated warmth and comfort, touching the lives of many, both within her family and the community to whom she dedicated herself wholeheartedly. As a nurse, she brought healing and solace to those in need, reflecting her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to caring for others.

Throughout her life, Dorothy found solace and strength in her faith, faithfully attending the Bible Baptist Church, where her spirit found peace and belonging. Her legacy of faith and devotion will forever be remembered by all who knew her.

Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be forever cherished by her surviving relatives: daughter Sarah (Kenneth) Kisling, sons Sam (Brenda) Young and Jerry (Lana) Young, half-brother Michael Cooper, half-sister Louise Moore, sister-in-Law, Jan (Tim) Gillespe, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchild.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday October 30, 2024 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:00 PM until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
