Ed McDowell, 84 years of Winchester, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Ohio Veterans Home.
He was born in Robertson County, Kentucky on January 16, 1927 the son of the late Noble and Nellie Haley McDowell.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Anna Mary Mitchell McDowell who passed away on December 10, 2007.
Ed attended Countryside Church of Christ where he was a Deacon; he was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II; he was a retired Executive Director of Adams County ASCS Office; he was a member of F&AM Winchester Lodge #236, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, 4-H Advisor for several years, former member of the REA Board, the Winchester American Legion Post #242, served on Adams County Board of Elections, and was a Senior Fair Board Member.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Gary and Shella McDowell of Winchester and Jerry and Sharon McDowell of Harrison, Ohio, two daughters and sons-in-law; Carolyn and Tom Shupert of Baltimore, Maryland and Rhonda and Dennis Beam of Winchester, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Countryside Church of Christ with Hannum Taylor officiating; Military Rites will be given by the Adams County Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Cherry Fork Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Countryside Church of Christ with Masonic Services at 8:00 P.M.
