Eddie Barrera, 71 years of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro.
He was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on June 6, 1935 the son of the late Joseph and Cleon Reed Barrera.
He was a 1954 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He owned and operated Barrera?s Poultry and Eggs, before building and operating Barrera?s Market in New Market. He was a member of the Hillsboro Eagles Aerie #1161, and the AMVETS Post #123.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Barrera and Frank Barrera.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Walker Barrera, sons, Richard Susi Barrera, Donnie Barrera, daughter, Kay Dale Roades, grandchildren, Scott Karen Barrera, Alissa Rob Satterfield, Amanda Craig Couser, Kristi Jesse Dickens, Adam Roades, great grandchildren, McKenzie, Bobby, and Jessie Satterfield, Lydia Couser, Haydon Barrera, and brothers, John Helen Barrera, and Wirt Judy Barrera.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Harold Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Saturday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home, with Eagles Services to be held at 8:00 P.M.
Memorials may be made to the Oncology Unit, Highland District Hospital, 1275 North High Street, Hillsboro, OH 45133 or charity of choice.
