Edith J. Burns, 68 years of Greenfield, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Grant Hospital in Columbus.

She was born in Fleming County, Kentucky on September 17, 1934 the daughter of the late Clell R. and Emma J. Humphries Bishop.

She was a member of the Greenfield United Methodist Church. She was an LPN working for five years in the Greenfield Manor Nursing Center, for three years at Highland District Hospital, and for seven years at the Fayette Memorial Hospital.

Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Burns, who passed away in December of 1985, one daughter, Pamela Yvonne Burns, and three brothers, Harold L. Bishop, Charles D. Bishop, and James William Bishop.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynette Lynn Burns of Lake Oswego, Oregon, nieces, Sharon Middleton of Dayton, Deloris Thomas of Livingston, Texas, nephews, Darrell Gene Bishop of Mt. Orab, Dale Bishop of Sardinia, and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Maxwell of Franklin, Ohio, and Gladys Hall of Bethel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Wendell F. Vermillion officiating. Burial will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery.

Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 till 11:00 A.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
