Edward L. Carter, 90 years of Hillsboro, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at his residence.
He was born July 8, 1924 at Sardinia, OH., the son of the late Ora Lee and Maggie Hartman Carter. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Betty J. Foltz Carter on August 25, 2006 and one brother Richard L. Carter.
Ed graduated from Stivers High School in Dayton and after graduation entered the U.S. Army serving his Country during W.W.II. After the war, Ed retired from the printing business and later sold automobiles for Jerry Haag Motors in Hillsboro. Ed was a member of the Sinking Spring Community Church, past worthy matron of the Hillsboro Chapter #441 O.E.S., Highland Lodge #38 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati.
Ed is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Nancy and David Arledge of New Holland, OH., one son and daughter-in-law Larry and Lou Juana Carter of Wears Valley, TN.; two grandsons David Arledge II of New Holland, OH., Tony Judy Carter of Chillicothe, OH.; three great grandchildren Logan Carter, Alexus Arledge, Brandon Arledge; one sister Audrey Johnson of Kettering, OH.; one great aunt Carolyn Tharp of Dayton, OH.; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Sinking Spring Community Church, 23 N. Main St., Sinking Spring, OH. where friends may call from `10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.. Eastern Star, Masonic and Scottish Rite Ring Service will start at 11:00 AM. followed by the Memorial Service with Military Rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard following the Memorial Service.
Greg Seaman will officiate Memorial Service.
Inurnment of cremains will be at 3:00 P.M. in the Linwood Cemetery at Russellvile, OH.
Family requests memorials to Shriners Hospital, 3229 Burnett Avenue, Cincinnati, OH. 45229.
