Effie F. Behm, 84 years of the Belfast Community, passed away on Tuesday December 27, 2022.
Effie was born in Adams County on February 19, 1938, the daughter of the late James Thaddeus and Edna (Maxwell) Palmer. Besides her parents, she is also preceded by her husband, Jerry Behm on October 8, 2010, brothers, Paul, Ed, Dale, Jim and Ronald "Pete" Palmer and sisters, Ilena Palmer, Anna Graham and Geneva Snider.
Effie was a 1956 graduate of Belfast High School and was a member of the Belfast United Methodist Church; was a hard worker her entire life, growing up on the family farm then starting her own home and family. She cherished her family in all roles but especially as mom, Ma'am, and Aunt Babe. Effie was known for her scrumptious home cooking, which was enjoyed by many. She was also a wonderful baker of pies, cakes, and cookies, and each year made 1200 cookies for Christmas. Effie enjoyed participating in several craft and homemaker clubs, and was an essential part of the annual ice cream supper at the Belfast United Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Effie survived by her son, Marty (Sandy) Behm of Belfast, daughters, Angela (Martin) Boris of New Vienna and Susan (Jeff) Leach of Leesburg, grandchildren, A. J. (Ashley) Behm, Zach Behm, Matthew (Ashley) Leach, Erica (Adam) Michael and Amber (Brandon) Waller, great grandsons, Leo Leach, Avery Leach and Lewis Waller, brother, Dean Palmer of Belfast, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janet and Bill Butler of Hillsboro, brother-in-law, Richard Behm of Greenfield and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Graveside Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday January 3, 2023 at Coss Cemetery in Belfast.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday January 2, 2023 at the Thompson Funeral Home.
