Eleanor Marie Maness, 80 years of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday May 4, 2015 at the Highland District Hospital.
She was born in Hillsboro, on September 17, 1934, the daughter of the late Floyd and Marie (Countryman) Shoemaker. Besides her parents she was also preceded by her first husband Richard Cowne on October 20, 1983, daughter Cindy Igo, son Mike Cowne and grandson Scott Maxwell.
Eleanor worked at Crestwood Nursing Home as an LPN for many years.
Eleanor is survived by her husband William Edward Maness of Hillsboro, son Jeff (Ginger) Cowne of Hillsboro, daughter Lori (Joe) Kelly of Hillsboro, six step-daughters, Judy (Frank) Finkbeiner of Lynchburg, Karen (John) Detweiler of Ridgeland, SC, Sharon (Ed) Pennington of Bluffton, SC, Theresa (Duane) Bradley of Spring Hill, TN, Margaret Belkofer of Powell and Mary (Ed) Willis of Delaware; five step-sons, Larry (Kathy) Maness of Mission Viejo, CA, Paul (Tina) Maness of Batavia, Ralph (Melissa) Maness of Cincinnati, Mark Maness of Lynchburg and Kevin Maness of Cincinnati, three brothers, Clarence (Ann) Shoemaker of Florida, Floyd Dean (Janie) Shoemaker of Hillsboro and Lee (Connie) Shoemaker of Florida, seven grandchildren, Samantha (Greg) Bohls, Christine (Jeff) Hickox, Bridget Cowne, Anna (Danny) Smith, Jeremy (Betheny) Kohus, Heather (Russell) McKernan and Jade Kohus, seven great grandchildren, Eleanor, Amelia, Megan, Makayla, Jaycee, Bentley and John. ten step-grandchildren, Brian (Beth) Maness, David (Michelle) Hatton, Khea (Kenny) Jones, Aaron Finkbeiner, Jennifer Hatton, Amy (David) Meneses, Andrea (David) Adkins, Christopher Maness, Emily Bradley and Amanda Bradley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. on Friday May 8, 2015 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Mike Paraniuk officiating. Burial will follow at Marshall Cemetery.
Friends may call at 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday May 7, 2015 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
