Elfriede Karnes, 69 years of Hillsboro, died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
She was born April 18, 1946 at Choudau, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of the late Franz and Frieda Heinisch. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by one son Stefan Karnes on July 9, 1993.
Elfriede was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, volunteer to the Area 937 Ministries and Hope Emergency in Lynchburg, retired from Ferno-Washington in Wilmington.
On September 29, 1967 she was united in marriage to Phillip Karnes who survives; one son and daughter-in-law Jason and Cindy Karnes of Hillsboro; two daughters and son-in-law, Beate Biggers of Hillsboro, Pennie and Jeff Phillips of Hillsboro; daughter-in-law Lisa Karnes of Peebles; nine grandchildren, Brandi Karnes-Fleming, Haley Karnes, Christopher Karnes, Breanna Karnes, Madison Karnes, Nathan Biggers, Jennifer Biggers, Richard Phillips, Anthony Phillips; three great grandchildren, Anna Fleming, Ethan Fleming, Ty Johnson; three sisters, Hanne VonDohlen, Maria Pfluger, Christiana Bloos all of Germany; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Jim Bush will officiate with burial to follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
