Elmer R. "Boone" Howland, 75 years of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in Morgantown, Ohio on January 21, 1933 the son of the late Beryl and Ruby Leeth Howland.
He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, one grandson, and one granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Helen D. Howland of Hillsboro, six sons and daughters-in-law, David and Betty Howland of Greenfield, Gary Mann of Hillsboro, Cary Mann of Wilmington, Lary Mann of Hillsboro, Dary Mann of Wilmington, Kyle McElroy of Hillsboro, four daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Mark Lyons of Greenfield, Sherri and Bart Anderson of Greenfield, Debbie and Don Lindie of Columbus, Brenda Morris of Logan, OH, brother and sister-in-law, Dale "Jake" and Stella Howland of Lucasville, forty grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two aunts, one uncle, ex-wife, Mary Howland of Greenfield, two step daughters, Pam Merrit of New Vienna, Carol Palmer of Greenfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with George Vastino officiating. Burial will follow in Gardner Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Pike County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 till 4:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
