Elmer Winfield Rayburn, Jr., 82 years, of Winchester passed away at the Monarch Meadows Nursing & Rehab facility in Seaman, OH on Monday January 2, 2017.
He was born in Portsmouth, OH on December 16, 1934 the son of the late Elmer Winfield and Madeline (Proctor) Rayburn, Sr. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Melody Jane Manchester, and one brother, David Rayburn.
Elmer was a wonderful storyteller, world traveler, collector and avid artist. He volunteered his time at the Cincinnati Zoo. He also was a member of the Bethlehem Church of Christ, the Adams County Arts Council, and a lifetime member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Stamey) Rayburn of Winchester, two daughters Cathy (William "Bill") Rayburn-Trobaugh of Marble, NC, Robin (Ty) Shipley of Mt. Orab, OH; one brother, Larry Rayburn of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday January 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Lewis Sullivan Funeral Home in Seaman, OH. Burial will follow at the Cherry Fork Cemetery.
Friends and Family may call from 12:00 until the time of service on Saturday January 7, 2017 at the Funeral Home.
The family asks that donations be made to the Cincinnati Zoo in Elmer's memory.
