Emma Jean Streitenberger

June 12, 1921 — March 5, 2009

Emma Jean Streitenberger, 87, of Hilton Head Island, SC passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2009. She was born in Marietta, Ohio on June 12, 1921 to the late Ory and Joan Fry Young. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Dale Otto Streitenberger, her first son, Dale E. Streitenberger, and a brother, John F. Young. In her early years, she lived in Marietta and Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Withrow High School, Cincinnati in 1939, married, and lived most of her life in Cincinnati and Hillsboro, Ohio. In later years, she lived in Bonita Springs, FL, Clemson, SC, and moved to Hilton Head Island, SC in 2007. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and homemaker with a wonderful sense of humor and kind nature.

She is survived by two sisters, Beatrice Sanders and Joan Sanks of Hillsboro, Ohio; her sons, George Lynda Streitenberger, of Lilburn, GA; Lee Debbie Streitenberger of Riner, VA; and Jeff Barbara Streitenberger of Hilton Head Island, SC. Grandchildren include Jennifer Ryan Holliday of Social Circle, GA; Eric Melissa Streitenberger of Atlanta, GA; Nicole, Wesley, Justine, and Emily Streitenberger of Riner, VA; Blair and Libby Streitenberger of Hilton Head Island, SC; and Lawson, Richard, and Landon Bubb, of Lilburn, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Her first great-grandchild, Will Holliday, was born on March 1, 2009.

Funeral services will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 241 E. Main Street, in Hillsboro, Ohio on Friday, March 13 at 12:30 P.M. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 P.M. until the service begins at 12:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Blue Ash, Ohio.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
