Ernie Lee Barnes, 76 years of New Port Ritchie, Florida, died Sunday September 18, 2005 at his residence.

He was born at Urbana, Ohio on April 5, 1929 the son of the late Milby and Esta Bailey Barnes.

He was a member of the American Legion, Thompson-Wallingford Post #54, life member of the V.F.W., life member of the DAV and an Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife Edith Bayless Barnes whom he married on September 30, 1951, two sons, Ron Barnes of New Port Ritchie, FL, Dale Barnes of Port Ritchie, FL. One daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Dan Turner of Peebles. Three sisters, Marie Shoemaker of Peebles, Emma Hodson of Boston, Massachusetts, Flossie Ralston of Peebles, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, Ohio with John Niswander officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery with Military Graveside services by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
