Eva L. Townsend Mitchener, age 96 of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Grancare Nursing Center.
She was born in O'Kean, Arkansas on July 16, 1917 the daughter of the late Charles and Eva Dawson Riggs.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd Townsend, who passed away on December 12, 1970; second husband, Charles Mitchener, who passed away in November 1997; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Nolan; 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Eva was a member of the Baptist church, supporting and traveling with mission trips to Peru, New Zealand, and Australia. She was an avid quilter, sewed her own clothes, crocheting, baking and cooking, and loved singing hymns.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Maria Townsend of Fond de Lac, Wisconsin; one daughter, Nola Cunningham-Berggruen of Clifton Township, MI; four grandchildren, Eric Lori Cunningham, Gena Tony Benson, Maria Paul Metz, and Victoria Longoria; five great grandchildren, Eva, Luisa, Jolie, Ryan, and Abby; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at Winchester Baptist Church with Retired Army Chaplain Dwight Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Winchester Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. till 12:00 P.M. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eva's name are appreciated to the Free Will Baptist Mission, P.O. Box 5002, Antioch, TN 37011. Wallace-Thompson Funeral Homes, Bradford-Sullivan Chapel in Winchester is in charge of the arrangements.
